Here they are, all the winners!
Last night, 11 April 2015, the Outdoor Painters Society assembled the best display of plein air paintings ever for their annual Plein Air Southwest Salon. Hundreds of paintings were submitted by artists from 16 states, from those, 203 paintings competed for awards. Show juror, Phil Starke, selected the 21 paintings below for awards. President, Tina Bohlman, after a welcoming message, introduced Phil Starke. Mr. Starke was impressed by the strength of the show which he said was “fun to judge”. He exhibited his thoroughness and care as it took him over three hours to select the award winners.
Five important criteria directed his final decisions: 1) Composition/design 2) Values 3) Color (temperature/harmony) 4) Technique 5) Overall appearance/presentation.
This beautiful show will hang through the month of April at Southwest Gallery in Dallas.
