Truth is debatable, changeable and up for grabs. Really, truth is whatever one decides it to be, for man is the decision maker and the ultimate arbiter of what is true. It’s a great system; this way any and everything can be true as long as one declares it to be so…even if multiple “truths” totally contradict one another, they’re all still true. More than that, this system allows for a much more peaceful society as any opposing belief is quickly condemned and labeled as judgmental or radical; this way, one quickly learns to compromise, get reeducated, or keep their mouth shut.
The idea of there being absolute truth…well, there is no such thing, unless, of course, it agrees with what is being promoted as true at the time.
I unashamedly believe the Bible to be the word of God, therefore the absolute and ultimate truth for mankind. There’s plenty of evidence this is so.
Only the Bible gives us a true revelation of God and His attributes. Only the Bible truthfully answers the deepest questions of man…Who are we; where did we come from; why are we here; and where are we going?
Man, however, is vehemently opposed to these answers because the spiritual forces of darkness in heavenly places do everything possible to lie, twist and distort the truth about God in order to deceive mankind and turn him aside from the Creator.
Since man has denied God’s answers, he has fabricated and substituted his own. In other words, he has exchanged the truth for a lie.
Who are we? Reasoning animals.
Where did we come from? A big bang.
Why are we here? To satisfy the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life.
Where are we going? Heaven
It’s in the Bible that man’s true nature and condition, apart from God, is revealed, and if we’re honest with ourselves we’d have to agree:
“There is no one righteous, not even one. There is none who understands, there is none who seeks for God; all have turned aside, together they have become useless. There is none who does good, there is not even one.
“Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they keep deceiving. The poison of asps is under their lips, whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; destruction and misery are in their paths. The path of peace they have not known; there is no fear of God before their eyes.” (Romans 3:10-18)
The world’s response to this truth…”Man is basically good.”
It’s an incredibly affective lie. If man is basically good, there isn’t much need for God…therefore, little need for a Savior.
The message of the Bible clearly reveals man’s nature and utter hopelessness in saving himself from this condition…or, attaining heaven and eternal life. That’s where the Gospel is like none other. It is good news for all mankind. It reveals that God stepped in, sent His Son to redeem us, and as our substitute took, upon Himself, all the just punishment due us for our sins. He was crucified in our place, died and was buried…and, on the third day…well, you know the rest…
He is risen; He’s alive forevermore; He is Lord.
Are there many ways to God or just one? Jesus himself answered that: “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
Are you sure you know where you’re going when you die? The Bible will give you that assurance. God bless you as you seek Him.
