circa 1895: Howard Pyle (1853-1911). American illustrator, painter and writer. He had a studio in N.Y. C. 1876-80, at Wilmington, DE from 1880, taught at Drexel Institute, Philadelphia, PA 1896, established school in Wilmington 1903. His students included Maxfield Parrish, Jessie Wilcox Smith, N.C.
