Choosing primary colors

Posted on

I have spoken and even taught extensively about the benefits of using a limited palette of just three primaries, in fact I have even written a book about it…Limited Palette Unlimited Color. One of the questions I am often asked is, “John, how do you go about selecting the primaries?” It’s a great question, because there are so many reds, yellows and blues from which to choose. In this video I tell you, and even demonstrate, how I go about selecting primaries for each new painting.

Direct from my studio…How to select primaries when using a limited palette.

Please let me know if this has helped you. If you use a limited palette of three primaries, please share how you select them. Thank you.
